Cochlear implantation gave us the opportunity to fully communicate, hear, understand, learn new things and enjoy it. Horrible years in absolute silence are behind and it's great!

Ksyusha was born a healthy girl

The beginning of our history was put by a terrible disease - leukemia. Ksyusha was born a healthy girl, attended an early development school, started attending kindergarten in 2 years. But at the age of 3, a blood cancer was diagnosed, and our life was transferred fr om a bright apartment to a hospital room with a daily intake of tablets and droppers. We did not know what triggered a sharp loss of hearing, but in March 2014, at the age of 3.5 years, as a result of the strongest otitis Ksyusha sharply lost her hearing. I remember this horror and constant "I need the volume! I need the volume!".

As a result of strong otitis Ksyusha sharply lost her hearing. I remember this horror and constant "I need the volume! I need the volume!".

Ours and doctors hopes for the return of hearing were not justified, as the result there were numerous operations on the ears and the conclusion: "Only cochlear implantation will help you, but you can do it not earlier than the end of chemotherapy and the recovery period." And there is still more than a year of treatment ahead, so time of waiting was in absolute silence for our little girl, but we tried: we were engaged, we wrote, we learned to read, because she knew all the letters before losing her hearing. Speech slightly worsened, but remained.

In November 2015, the treatment was completed, a quota was received, and in April 2016 we received a long-awaited challenge at the Research Institute of ENT in St. Petersburg.  Professor Vladislav Kuzovkov, who explained everything, already knew of us, took us under control and helped with the passage of surveys. After the operation, he said that we jumped into the last car of the departing train, as the right ear was no longer operable, and for the left it was just the time to operate.

We began to learn how to hear and understand anew

In May 2016, we received our device. A miracle called "oh, mom, I hear everything" did not happen, and we began to learn how to hear and understand anew. Now Ksiusha is 6 years old, she attends an inclusive kindergarten wh ere she is dealt with by a  defectologist and speech therapist, she has the opportunity to communicate with ordinary children. Experts are satisfied with the results, and so are we. The whole family sees how Ksenia has changed. The girl, tormented by a terrible illness and having lost her ears, becoming shy and capricious, is now again communicating, learning poems and hurrying to communicate with peers.

The whole family sees how Ksenia has changed: she again communicates, learns poems and hurries to communicate with peers.

Cochlear implant gave us the opportunity to fully communicate, hear, understand, learn new things and enjoy it. Terrible years in absolute silence are behind, and it's great! Favorite fairy-tale character - Firebird, it was she Ksyusha wanted to be on this New Year. We are preparing for school, for regular school and we will succeed! Noone doubts that the dreams of a real Firebird will come true!
